Our communities are surrounded by some of the best of Southern California’s arts and culture. When you are a resident in a Far West community, you’re close to so many wonderful things to enjoy. While many venues are currently closed due to COVID guidelines, some local venues are pivoting to provide access to local arts as they ready for when activities can resume again in person.

Orange County

Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa has announced its Broadway Season for 2021-2022 which includes seven incredible Broadway shows, starting with Mean Girls in October. For more information, visit their website.

The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana is currently closed due to COVID guidelines. However, making connections is more important than ever. Highly trained docents are leading virtual tours at Bowers through its galleries to explore the connections between cultures around the globe.

Registration is now open for virtual public tours, geared for all ages. Current exhibits includeTreasures in Gold & Jade: Masterworks from Taiwan and Inside the Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic with behind-the-scenes access never before granted to the public. The Orange County Museum of Art, in Santa Ana is temporarily closed to support the effort to contain the spread of COVID-19. Upon re-opening, the museum will observe appropriate safety precautions. In the meantime, anyone can get a 360-degree view of OCMA’s future home at Segerstrom Center for the Arts with the “OCMA Atrium Tour” app, now available for iOS devices. Riverside

The University of California, Riverside, Botanic Gardens are botanical gardens containing more than 3,500 plant species from around the world. Located in the foothills of the Box Springs Mountains on the east side of the University of California, Riverside Campus, the Gardens covers 40 hilly acres. Come visit our collection and gardens, wander over four miles of scenic trails, or just relax on a bench and enjoy the beauty and vistas. Learn more about hours of operation.

Marina del Rey

The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center in Los Angeles houses European paintings, drawings, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, decorative arts, and photography from its beginnings to the present, gathered internationally. While the museum is currently closed to support the emergency guidelines in place for COVID, there are a number of exciting upcoming exhibits such as LA #Unshuttered which will showcase the photography of young artists advocating for social justice and Rubens: Picturing Antiquity, which will celebrate the art and literature of classical antiquity inspired the dynamic Flemish painter Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640). Visit the website for future exhibit information.
